Be a Shout of Color…

The fallen azalea flower…

far removed from its mother bush.

Bright pink, but face down in all the muck and mud that gathers before the opening of the drainage ditch.

Just the gentlest of showers could carry it into that darkest of places – forgotten.

But for now it is a shout of color within the dirty debris.

Being itself in the midst…as it is called to be…as it needs to be.

“Be who you are and be that well in order to honor the Master whose handiwork you are.” St. Francis de Sales

“When they walk through the valley of weeping, it will become a place of refreshing springs.”

+It has been awhile since I have posted on this blog and I hope now to return more regularly.  I have weekly been posting on my professional blog at http://www.lifelinesmobile.org/blog and you are welcome to visit me there. And yet I have missed this place, this bit of Godly sanctuary, and each of you my readers. I’m learning that in work we often wear seatbelts. I see God so connected in the all about me, it blesses me (and I h0pe you as well) to share those bits of light. In this crazy, mixed up world we need to remember God is with us. He is Emmanuel, and we in turn are called to be those shouts of color…that hope for the weary.

Inhale…”Oh Come Oh Come”…Exhale Slowly…”Emmanuel”

There is an adrenalin stirring in the heart…

An advent adrenalin…an advent anticipation…

an awaiting of the light to come…the quiet, mysterious dawning of newness.

The inhaling of the mystery…”Oh Come Oh Come”…

The slow exhaling of hope…”Emmanuel”…

Inhale: “Oh Come, Oh Come”…

Exhale slowly: “Emmanuel”

it is now the hour for you to wake from sleep for our salvation is closer than when we first accepted the faith. The night is far spent; the day draws near. Let us cast off deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” Rom 13: 11-12

Things have been a bit quiet on the blog…but the most wonderful news to share…

I am a new, first time grandma!

No one can really put into words the indescribable joy of being a grandma.

This precious new life…in all ways a gift from God!

Ansley Grace…you make me smile from the inside out!

It’s such a grand thing to be a mother of a mother – that’s why the world calls her grandmother.  – Unknown

Beauty in the Becoming…

It seems particularly fitting that my last post was the first week of Lent and I am resuming the first week of Advent. This journey of the heart, as of late, has taken me through an intensive internship and onward to a second, mid-life career as a licensed counselor. My blog and all my loyal readers have been in my thoughts and in my prayers in my absence, and I anticipated the time when I could return to regular posts.   I pondered changing the name of the blog to “The Beauty in the Becoming” for that is the profound discovery I am making as I meet with my clients. But “Through Him With Him In Him” will always be home, for it is only through Him with Him and in Him that we discover the beauty in the becoming. I will resume posting and am extending anew an invitation to join me in our combined journeys of the heart through Him with Him and in Him as we each discover the beauty of our becoming.

In the Gooey, Gummy, Messy, Marvelous…

Find God in the everyday…

In the midst…in the muck..in the ups…in the downs…

Believing in Him is not some form of escapism that takes us away from the richness of the everyday.

It is here, alleluia, we find Him…

In the now of today…in the all of life with us.

Yes, find God today in the everyday…in the midst…

In the gooey, gummy, messy, marvelous of the day…

For it is through Him, with Him, in Him in the unity of the Holy Spirit…

All glory and honor be yours almighty Father forever and ever…

In the everyday…in the midst…in the gooey, gummy, messy, marvelous of THIS day.

A Blessing in our Life…

“The one best place to bury a good dog is in the heart of his master.” Ben Hur Lampman

Dear God, Thank you for the gift of our dog. She was part of the family. Her loyalty and faithfulness, her obedience and her affection for us all reminded us that all good gifts come from You. She was a blessing in our life. Although today we said good-bye, she will remain with us in our hearts.

Into the Glory of the Day…

Be lifted into the glory of the day…

Into the whoosh of wonder…into the no such thing as normal.

Moments charged with eternity…

Held within the ticking of the clock…burst forth heaven into the here and now.

“We need to rediscover a contemplative spirit, so that the love of God may warm our hearts.” Pope Francis Twitter 4/8/14

Rough Around the Edges…

In the roughness of nature, we see beauty…

the gathering of storm clouds, the rush of stormy seas, kudzu covering an abandoned barn.

With a soul’s pause, we see beyond the ordinary.

In the “rough around the edges” of our spirits… there too is beauty…

And with a souls’ pause we see beyond the ordinary of self and others and are… captivated.

To see the beauty in the roughness is to see with God’s eyes.

To live beauty in the roughness is to live love.

To live love is to live + Jesus.

Live beauty… live love.

Live love… live + Jesus…

All in the roughness of the day.

May the roughness of your day…be an invitation to ponder beauty.

Shutters of the Heart…

There is something sacred about the early morn…

the just waking up of the world as the sky stretches into the hello of the sun…

easing into colors of praise pinks, blues, and yellows.

The birds begin their hymns… their song joining in the symphony.

How often Lord have I insulated myself from the joy of arrival…

with curtains drawn and a hit to the snooze button?

The song of the new day knocks

May I be awake to answer this glory…

May my life be a part of this orchestra of grace each day anew.

Let the shutters of my heart be opened.
